Faith and science. Do they actually go together? Or are they always at odds? I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. Well, this topic has confused a lot of people over the years. You hear something in science, maybe about the origin of life, maybe about the dinosaurs, maybe something you don't fully understand. And it can leave you wondering where that fits with your faith. And somewhere along the way, a lot of people picked up the idea that you have to choose one or the other. But that's not true. Colossians 1, verses 16 and 17 says, For through him, God created everything. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. And guess what? That includes everything science studies. Science isn't something outside of God. It's the observation of what he created. It's people studying how things work, the systems, the order, the design that God put in place. So faith and science aren't enemies. They're looking at the same reality from different angles. Psalm 19, verse 1. The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Creation is telling a story. And it points back to the one who made it. Now here's where things can get off track. Sometimes science gets treated like it's the final authority on everything, as if it can explain life without any reference to God at all. At that point, it's no longer just observation. It starts becoming a belief system on its own. And that's where the conflict comes in. Not because science is the problem, but because God has been removed from the picture. And when that happens, you're left trying to explain creation without the creator. So here's the takeaway. You don't have to be afraid of science. You don't have to feel like your faith is on shaky ground because you don't have every answer. God is the source of all truth. And the more we learn about the world he made, the more it reflects his design, his order, and his power. So you can stay curious, you can keep learning, and at the same time, stay confident in the one who created it all. Lord, thank you for creating a world that reflects your power and design. Help us not to feel shaken when we come across things we don't fully understand. Give us confidence in you as the source of all truth and keep our faith grounded in who you are, no matter what questions come our way. In Jesus' name. Amen. This is one of those topics people don't always bring up, but a lot of people are thinking about. So pass this along if someone comes to mind. And follow the Faith Fueled with Bob Shaw podcast wherever you listen for scripture based encouragement that helps you think clearly and walk confidently in your faith. Until next time, peace and joy.
