Even strong believers have moments where questions surface and faith feels uncertain. In this episode of FaithFuel, Bob Shaw talks about those moments when something makes you stop and think—and how that doesn’t mean your faith is failing.

Looking at James 1:5 and Hebrews 11:1, this devotional reminds us that God welcomes honest questions and gives wisdom generously. Doubt doesn’t disqualify you—it can lead you to seek Him more deeply and trust Him more fully.

Every once in a while you'll hear a question about the Bible that makes you stop and think, wait, what about that? I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. Most followers of Christ would never say they've stopped believing, but every once in a while, something comes up that makes you stop for a moment. You hear someone challenge the Bible. You come across an argument that sounds convincing at first, or you read something in Scripture and think, how does that fit? And those moments can feel uncomfortable, but they're not unusual. And having a question doesn't mean your faith is falling apart. James 1.5 says, if you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. That verse tells us something important about the heart of God. He's not threatened by your questions. When something doesn't make sense yet, God doesn't say you should already know the answer. No, he invites you to ask. I've had moments like that myself. Someone says something about the Bible that sounds convincing at first, and for a second you think, okay, how does that line up with what Scripture actually says? So you go back to the Word, you read it again, you pray, you ask God for wisdom, and over time you start to see that Scripture holds together far better than the objections people raise. And here's something else that's important to remember. If a question pops into your mind, God isn't sitting in heaven waiting to smite you for it. He already knows your thoughts. What matters is where you take those questions. Hebrews 11:1 says, Faith shows the reality of what we hope for. It is the evidence of things we cannot see. So faith doesn't mean you have every answer laid out in front of you. Faith means you trust the character of God, even when something isn't fully clear yet. Moments like that don't have to weaken your faith. Very often they become the moments that deepen it. Because when questions lead you to seek God for wisdom, faith grows stronger. Lord, thank you that you invite us to come to you when we need wisdom. When questions arise, help us bring them to you instead of letting them shake our faith. Grow our understanding and strengthen our trust in your truth. In Jesus' name. Amen. Well, if this episode encouraged you today, consider sharing it with someone who might need the reminder. And follow the Faith Fueled with Bob Shaw podcast wherever you listen for Christ centered encouragement grounded in God's Word. Until next time, peace and joy.
