Miracles

Miracles in the Bible were never meant to be spectacles. They were signs pointing to something far greater.
In this episode of FaithFuel, Bob Shaw explores John 20:30–31 and explains how miracles reveal the identity and authority of Jesus. They confirm God’s message and direct attention to Christ rather than to the miracle itself.
God is still powerful and able to intervene today, but the greatest miracle of all is the transformation of a sinner into a child of God.
Miracles. They were never about spectacle. They were about revealing who Jesus is. I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. When people hear the word miracle, they usually think of the dramatic. Blind eyes opened, storms silenced, the dead raised. And that can lead to two very different reactions. Some people chase the spectacular. They look for signs and wonders when they don't see more of them. Others become skeptical. If they haven't witnessed something dramatic, they start to question whether miracles still happen at all. Well, Scripture helps us understand what miracles were really meant to show. John twenty, verses thirty and thirty one says, The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs, in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him, you will have life by the power of his name. That word signs is important. Miracles in the Bible were never random displays of power. They pointed somewhere. They revealed who Jesus is. When he healed the paralytic in Mark II, he did it so people would know he had authority to forgive sins. The miracle wasn't the main point. Jesus was. Miracles confirmed the message and revealed the heart of God. They showed compassion, authority, and they showed that the kingdom of God had entered human history. And God has not changed. The same power and compassion we see in the gospels are still true of Him today. He's able to intervene in ways that are beyond us. We can pray boldly, but we don't anchor our faith in the outcome of a miracle. Because sometimes the miracle we're asking for doesn't happen the way we hoped. That does not mean God is absent. Sometimes his greatest work is unseen, strengthening faith, reshaping hearts, redirecting lives. The greatest miracle isn't physical healing, it's spiritual life. When a sinner becomes a child of God, ha that's supernatural. When a hardened heart softens, that's power. And when someone moves from death to life in Christ, that's a miracle. So yes, God still works powerfully today. But the purpose of every miracle, seen or unseen, is the same, to point us to Jesus. Lord, thank you that you are still powerful and still in charge and still at work. Help us trust you whether we see dramatic intervention or unseen transformation. Strengthen our faith and keep our eyes fixed on Christ. In Jesus' name, amen. If this encouraged you, please share it with someone who may need that reminder. And follow the Faith Fuel with Bob Shaw podcast wherever you listen for everyday encouragement rooted in Scripture. Until next time, peace and joy.
